RLI in Greenwood
Spring in its warmth, early colors and timeless renewal of life itself was present for the Rotary Leadership Institute in Greenwood, SC. The event was held on March 12 at the James C. Self Conference Center at Piedmont Technical College. Twenty-three participants and six facilitators contributed to the success of the event.
Regional Coordinator Gene Moorhead managed what is perhaps a Zone 33 RLI first by having two sitting District Governors as facilitators. Thanks to Terry Weaver (7750) and Rod Funderburk (7770) for contributing a day from their busy schedules. Thanks as well to PDG Rich Waugh and PDG Lorraine Angelino, as well as Gene Moorhead and District Coordinator George Fletcher, who served as facilitators.
The Institute recognized five enthusiastic new graduates:
- William Callahan, Rotary Club of Westminster, SC
- Nancy Goplerud, Rotary Club of Emerald City, Greenwood, SC
- Mamie Nicholson, Rotary Club of Greenwood, SC
- Farris Michael Seymour, Rotary Club of Laurens, SC
- Helen Westmoreland, Rotary Club of Seneca, SC
The Part III group spent their Making a Difference session on discussing the “value proposition” of RLI. All agreed that there was significant value in RLI and that we need to do a better job selling it to the clubs. All agreed to make presentations to their own clubs using newly developed RLI promotional materials.
