William
W. “Bill” Wilson is a Past District Governor of
Rotary District 7680 (2005-06), and charter member and past
president of the Greater Statesville Rotary Club. He is a
level 5 Paul Harris Fellow, a Foundation Benefactor, a level
2 Major Donor and Bequest Society Member of The Rotary
Foundation. Bill served three terms as Assistant Governor
from 2000 to 2003. In addition, he served on district
committees for The Rotary Foundation Permanent Fund and for
the CART Fund. He was the district representative to the
2003 Presidential Peace Conference in
Panama
, and is currently serving as the Western NC State
Coordinator for The Rotary Leadership Institute. Bill
received the District Distinguished Rotarian Award for 2003
from the Greater
Statesville
Rotary Club.
Bill graduated from North Carolina
State College in 1963 with a degree in Civil Engineering,
Construction Option. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as
an officer in the United States Army and served active and
reserve duty from 1963 to 1970.
Bill and his two brothers own G. L.
Wilson Building Company located in
Statesville
, N. C. The company is primarily involved in commercial and
industrial building construction. Bill is retired from
active management.
Jean and Bill have a son and a
daughter and three grandchildren. They are active members of
Wesley
Memorial
Methodist
Church
where Bill is a member of the chancel choir. He is also a
member of the Mitchell Community College Community Chorus.
Bill’s other interest include alpine skiing, motorcycling
and ornamental gardening.
