Mike Thacker was born and
raised in rural SW Virginia, and owned a computer
consulting company in New York until he and Connie moved
to Lake Gaston (NC) in 1989. He has a Masters in Computer
Science, Arizona State University. And, he is also a
member of the Rotary Fishing Fellowship.
Mike joined Rotary in 1992, and was
President of the Warrenton Rotary Club in 1995-96,
and has twice been named their “Rotarian of the Year”.
He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and a double
Sustaining Member, as well as a member of the Bequest
Society. His
wife Connie is also a Paul Harris Fellow.
Mike was the District Governor in
Rotary year 2003-04 in district 7710 (Raleigh area of NC).
He is a frequent Discussion Leader at Carolinas’
PETS, he currently serves Executive Committee for Zones 33
& 34 (2006-08), and is Rotary
Foundation Alumni Coordinator for
Zone 33 (RFAC /
2006-08, which includes 13 Rotary districts in 5 states:
SC, NC, VA, WV, and the eastern part of TN).
Currently,
he is the web master for the Rotary International web site
for the “fellowships” (www.RotaryFellowships.org), and the web master
for RI Zones 33 & 34, as well as several other
districts and many clubs.
And, he recently added support for ALUMNI
recognitions into the District
and
Club
database
(DaCdb)
software his company developed, which is now serving over
25 Rotary districts (and 1,600 clubs). Also, see page 15
