James
A. Probsdorfer is a Program Administrator at Northrop
Grumman Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, he is a retired U.S. Army
combat arms officer enjoying a second career subcontracting
the delivery of logistics products to US Navy Aircraft
Carriers. Jim has a BA degree from The Citadel, a MS
degree from Bucknell University, and a PhD from Old Dominion
University.
Jim
began his Rotary career in 1988 when he joined the Warwick
(Newport News) Rotary Club. Warwick Rotary was
recognized as the “Best
Club in District 7600” in 1994-1995, the year that Jim
served as Club President.
He went on to serve five District Governors as ‘Membership
Man’ and then received a nomination to serve as District
Governor. As the “Lead the Way” District Governor
in 2006-2007, Jim was fortunate to host RI President Bill
Boyd during his visit to the Jamestown 400th
Anniversary in May. Jim is a multiple Paul Harris
Fellow and Benefactor. He was elected to serve
District 7600 as a Council of Legislation representative in
2010.
In
addition to his Rotary interest, Jim is an adjunct professor
at Old Dominion University and
Christopher Newport University, a board member on the local
council of the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the
Leadership Council of the Smart Beginnings of the Virginia
Peninsula – early childhood learning initiative, and an
instructor for the Junior Achievement Program.
