Jack T. Pitzer, retired Director of Procurement for the City of Alexandria, Virginia, since 1994, began his career in public purchasing in 1966. Since his retirement he serves as a self-employed procurement and educational consultant. A Ph.D. in political science from the Univ. of MO-Columbia, he taught at the FL Inst. of Tech Graduate Center in Alexandria, and is former Dean of Services for Lincoln Univ. (Mo). He is a published author and has received numerous national purchasing awards. 

An Honors Graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Jack served 42 years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel, and was placed on the retired rolls of the Iowa Army National Guard as a brevet Brigadier General. A recipient of the IANG Legion of Merit, he is a member of the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame.

Jack, a Rotarian in three clubs since 1985, is currently in the Alexandria, VA Rotary Club where he has served on the Board, various committees, and was President in 2005-2006. He serves on the District 7610 Training Committee. 

He and his wife of 43 years, Tanya, are both Paul Harris Fellows. They are parent of daughter, LaTisha Dew, Johnstown, CO; and a son, Leyton T. Pitzer, Fairfax, VA. They have two grandchildren.
