Earline Byrd Orndorff is a
semi-retired educator.
With a BS from Carson Newman College and a MS and
Ed.D. from Virginia Tech, she has been working to improve
educational opportunities for over 34 years.
A native of Mecklenburg County, VA, she served as
an Extension Agent for Warren County, VA for 21 years,
before the family relocated to Wisconsin for 10 years.
While there, she taught graduate level classes in
“Organizational Communication”, “Volunteer
Leadership and Management”, “Program Planning for
Adults”, “Management”, and “Adult Teaching
Strategies” for the UW system.
She also worked as an independent consultant in the
areas of Leadership Development, Management, and Training
for 10 years.
Earline is currently a member of the
Rotary Club of Roanoke Valley, VA.
She serves on the Board of Directors, as the
club’s Foundation Committee Chair, and on the By-laws
Committee. Since
returning to District 7570 in early 2008, she has been
appointed to the District Foundation/Annual Giving
Committee.
Earline’s Rotary background is
varied. She
became a Rotarian when she joined the Rotary Club of Front
Royal in 1989. She
was elected to the club board in 1994, and served for five
years prior to relocation to Wisconsin.
She led a Group Study Exchange Team to the South
Pacific in 1993 and served as District 7570 GSE Chair for
four years. She
is so supportive of and grateful to GSE that the program
was the basis of her doctoral dissertation.
In District 6250, she was an active
member of the Rotary Club of Sun Prairie, where she served
as President, Secretary, bylaws chair, and bulletin
editor. She
also served as President of the club’s local Rotary
Foundation. She was actively involved in the club’s “Orphan Train”
project in Bulgaria and “RICE” (Rotarians Involved in
Children’s Education).
Earline has attended two international conventions.
She was District 6250 Membership Chair, a member of
the District GSE Committee and was on the District
Training team. She
served as a trainer at PETS, District Assemblies, and
numerous other events.
She and her husband, Bill (also a
Rotarian), are both Paul Harris Fellows and Benefactors.
They have served several times as Youth Exchange
Host Parents. They
have two sons (and daughters-in-law) and two
granddaughters.
She has been active in community,
civic, and church affairs.
Over the years (both in Virginia and Wisconsin),
Earline has served on numerous community college, Chamber
of Commerce, and hospital boards.
In her spare time, Earline likes to travel, play
golf and do genealogical research.
She is also a musician, artist, and avid reader. |
