Mary
E. Martin is currently the Executive Director of the
Little River, SC Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
She has been a member of Rotary for 19 years. She was a
member of Florence West Rotary Club
from 1988 through 1995. During that time, Mary was
the Director of Club Service, Treasurer board of Directors
and President. She received the “Service Above Self’
Award, and was honored as the Rotarian of the Year for
1992-1993.
She
received a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding and
dedicated service in chartering the Florence Breakfast
Club. She has been a member of the Rotary Club of North
Myrtle Beach since 1996 where she has served as Treasurer.
She was the editor of the District Newsletter for
2000-2001 while serving as President of her club. She
has served on the Ambassadorial Scholarship Selection
Committee and the Cultural Scholarship Selection
Committee.
She
served as Assistant Governor for Area 9 (2000-2003) and
was instrumental in creating two new clubs, Little River
and Carolina Forest. In 2003 she was awarded the
Outstanding Assistant Governor award.
She
has hosted GSE members from Egypt, Finland and Australia.
She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor and is
a member of the Paul Harris Society and Ten Star Rotarian.
She has attended International Conferences in Mexico City,
Orlando, Florida, Scotland ,Argentina, Texas and Salt Lake
City.
Mary
is currently serving on the Board of Directors for
Seahaven, a Teen Shelter and Sea Coast Hospital Foundation
both located in Little River, SC. In January of 2006
Mary was recognized as Outstanding Female of the year by
the American Business Women’s Organization. . Two months
later she was recognized as one of the twenty most
powerful women on the Grand Strand.
Mary
has a son, John who lives in Wilmington, NC. He and his
wife Jackie have a son, Josh and a daughter Crystal. She
had a daughter Anitta who lives in Tabor City, NC and she
has a daughter Tyler.
