Jerry
Evans
is a member of the Rappahannock-
Fredericks
burg Rotary Club.
He started his Rotary career as a young man in
Alhambra
,
California
, and currently has 44 years of perfect attendance.
He was President of the Alhambra Rotary Club for
the 1983/1984 Club year, having previously served in most
areas of the Club’s work.
He was the District Governor’s representative for
the years 1985 and 1986.
Jerry also served as the District 5300
representative on the Los Angeles Task Force that brought
four Rotary districts together to discuss ideas to prevent
the occurrence of another “Rodney King” riot.
He was made an honorary member of District 5280 for
his work on the Task Force.
Other district Rotary work includes being the
District 5300 Conference Chairman in 1988, and District
Conference Plenary Chairman for 1990, 1991, 1993, and
1994.
Since moving to
Virginia
, he has served his club as Fund Raising Chairman,
Educational Foundation Chairman, and Assistant District
Governor from 2001 to 2003.
Jerry
is an alumnus of
Pomona
College
, and owned a sheet metal business for 34 years.
After he and his wife, Barbara, retired, they
started a small meeting planning business in
Virginia
.
Jerry also became a baseball and volleyball umpire
for the Northern Virginia Umpires Association, and a sales
representative for Skyline Equipment.
Barbara has been involved with volunteer work since
retiring as a Senior Manager from Deloitte & Touche.
Together,
Jerry and his wife have 6 children and many grandchildren.
They enjoy traveling in their plane to visit
family, and cruising in foreign countries.
