Gary became a Rotarian in 1981 in St. Petersburg, FL.  Since moving to northern Virginia in 1986 Gary has been a member of the Burke, Lake Ridge, and Bull Run Rotary Clubs.  Gary has served in numerous club and district positions including Lake Ridge Rotary Club president 1998/99 and three years as Assistant District Governor and has twenty-three years of perfect attendance.  He is currently the District’s Rotary Foundation Annual Giving chair and is the District’s Friendship Exchange chair. Gary is a Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation.   

Gary was raised in Wayne, NJ and attended Grove City College, PA.  In 1970, after earning a BS in Biology, he joined the Air Force where he taught Vietnamese Officers to fly T-37 aircraft at Sheppard Air Force Base TX.  In 1975, Gary transferred to the Coast Guard and for ten years he flew C-130 aircraft USCG stations in North Carolina, Alaska, and Florida. 

In 1986, upon completing an MBA at the University of South Florida, Tampa, he transferred to Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.  At Headquarters, Gary served as the Aviation Advanced Technology Manager and Deputy Project Officer for Coast Guard Logistics Information System.  In 1995, Gary completed a MS in Information Systems from Strayer College and retired from the Coast Guard.  For the next three years he worked for Anteon Corporation where he was on the management team that developed FEMA’s nation-wide disaster management system.  Gary is now again employed by the Coast Guard where he is the program manager for Coast Guard’s unmanned aircraft systems acquisitions.
