Dr.
Kwame Agyenim-
Boateng
(Ph.D., University of Tennessee) is an Associate professor
of Political Science and International Relations at West
Virginia Wesleyan, Buckhannon, West Virginia. He earned
his Bachelor’s and Master’ Degrees in Education and
his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Political Science from
the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He also received
his University Teachers’ Diploma from the University
College of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
He
had additional training in Peace Research and Conflict
Resolution at the International Summer School, University
of Oslo, Oslo, Norway, where he was elected the President
of the Summer School. Dr. Agyenim-Boateng has further
participated in two Fulbright Hays Faculty Development
Group Studies in South Korea and Brazil. He also
participated in Salzbury Seminar- “European Paradox:
Integration and Disintegration,” in Salzbury, Austria.
In addition, he has participated in U.S. Institute of
Peace’s Conflict and Peacemaking seminar in Washington,
D.C., and a National Endowment of Humanities’ one year
seminar on “Women in Islam.” He has contributed as a
teacher, researcher, human rights activist and a conflict
resolution specialist.
Prior
to joining the faculty of West Virginia Wesleyan, he
served as an Education Officer in the Ghana Education
Service, Ghana. He also taught at Baptist Women’s
College in Abeokuta, Nigeria. He has given lectures at
many university and college campuses, and presented papers
at numerous professional conferences. He has taught and
published in the areas of conflict management and human
rights, both of which are part of his special interests.
Currently, he is completing a manuscript titled, “The
Liberian Crisis 1989-2005.” He teaches courses in
international relations, comparative governments,
political theory and African Politics. He has taught at
several U.S. colleges and a university as well as Duksung
Women’s University in South Korea. In addition to the
numerous professional honors, he has served as both Vice-
President and President of the West Virginia Political
Science Association.
Dr.
Agyenim-Boateng joined Rotary International in 1996. He is
a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He is a Song Leader and a
Board Member in charge of the Family of Rotary of the
Buckhannon Rotary Club.
