John
P. Beckett, Jr. is Senior Vice
President and Trust Officer at First Century Bank,
Bluefield, West Virginia.
He was born and grew up in Bluefield, graduated from
Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, and Radford
University, Radford, Virginia and holds advanced training in
financial services from Northwestern University and the
University of Delaware.
A
member of the Rotary Club of Bluefield, West Virginia, he
has been in Rotary for 32 years, served as 1995-96
president, was named 2005 Rotarian of the Year and currently
serves as Membership chair.
John was a charter member of his high school Interact
club, served as district #7550 Interact chair for four
years, as 04-05 District Governor and currently serves as
district trainer and chair for Rotary Leadership Institute.
Zone appointments include: member and chair of DGN
training for Atlanta and Orlando Institutes, Copenhagen
Southland Breakfast Committee, 2006 Zone Nominating
Committee for RI director, 2007-08 Zone 33 Gift Advisor,
2007 Myrtle Beach Rotary Institute Executive Committee.
John
has served on numerous boards and committees including the
Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Sales Executives Club, City
of Bluefield Planning Commission, CHOICES, Treasurer and
Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church. He is married to Becky,
an a Honorary a Spanish and English teacher, chair of
Atlanta DGN spouse training, coordinator of spouse training
for the Orlando Institute and is also active in numerous
community and church activities.
John and Becky are the parents of three sons and are
both Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and members of the
Bequest Society.
