(Greenville NC) Thirty-Five Rotarians participated in
Part I and Part II classes held at the Greenville First
Pentecostal Holiness Church on September 22, 2007. Despite
some early weather concerns, Rotarians from District
7710, District
7720 and District
7730 participated in the event.
After an assortment of coffees and light breakfast
fare, the group assembled in the main room as District
7720 Governor Brad Sears welcomed the group to Greenville.
Zone 33 RLI Chair Bevin Wall delivered some brief comments
and thanked both students and faculty for making the
commitment of their time and talents to strengthen their
Rotary clubs and the service they provide to their
respective communities. District 7710 Governor Barry
Phillips and District 7710 Governor-Elect Don Bucker were
also present and participated in classes throughout the
day. District 7720 Governor-Elect Vivian Mott served on
the event Faculty.
The students maintained a high level of energy
throughout the day and aggressively tackled many of the
core issues facing our organization, volunteerism in
general, and issues of leadership. An excellent Faculty of
PDG Rocky Jacobs, Mark
Lynch, Bob
Melone, DGE Vivian
Mott,
PDG Charlie Seay, Van
Sherrill, and Greg Wallace prompted
and engaged the students during each
session.
During the luncheon, the group was treated to free time
to discuss the morning's activities and to get to know
their fellow Rotarians better. A buffet lunch with salad
and a potato bar was well received.
To the credit of all, going into the last afternoon session,
there was 100% retention of students. All students were
encouraged to attend the next class of RLI at one of the
many upcoming events including the Fayetteville NC RLI on
October 27 and the High Point NC RLI on November
16.
RLI State Coordinator for Eastern NC Bob Stinson of
Shallotte, NC was the Program Chair for the event, and
District 7730 RLI Chair Don Mott served as Facilities
Chair and onsite registrar.
