October 14, 2006 (Morehead City, NC). Fourteen Rotarians eagerly participated in the first RLI
event held in Morehead City, North Carolina on October 14,
2006. The event site, the NC State University Center for
Marine Sciences and Technology, showcased the facility as
an excellent venue for adult leadership education and
training.
The
Rotarians engaged in the Part I RLI curriculum under the
supervision of an excellent RLI Faculty consisting of East
NC State Coordinator and RLI Board Member Glenn Hood of
Raleigh, AG Nancy Barbee of
Pollocksville, NC and District
7730 RLI Chair PAG John Smith of Newport, NC. All three of
the faculty are educators by profession and brought a high
level of expertise and interactivity to the session.
According to the faculty, Rotarians began with a high
level of energy that continued all day long.
Evaluations
marked the event as one of the highly rated events in some
time. President-Elect Maher Saikali of the Newport NC
Rotary Club was one of the participants. “The faculty
really knew what they were doing… It was fast-paced and
it seemed like the day was over before it even started!”
Students represented Rotary clubs in Districts 7720 and
7730, including Rotary clubs from Jacksonville, Kinston,
New Bern, Beaufort, Sneads Ferry, Newport, and Morehead
City.
